Personal history

Hypatia was the daughter of a previous Archon, who pulled every string he could without reaching into impropriety to arrange for her success. There was limited progress: while she is brilliant, none of her teachers or mentors were able to get her to shake her tendency to hyper fixate rather than broaden her attention. Her reputation for such solidified quickly due to the increased attention paid to the Archon's daughter, and many doors closed to her quite young. She made an extremely effective researcher, and eventually one of the most successful and critical functionaries on the Research Directory team, but was staunchly precluded from any sort of authority. Over time and after being tempered by handling actual responsibility Hypatia corrected her errors, acquired a much more beneficial perspective, but found that her reputation was set and those doors remained closed. She was very frustrated with her lot when the Unifier arrived, and welcomed the changes his rise brought even before it precipitated her rise. And it was a meteoric rise, Hypatia is now both the Director of Research, and Head of Arcane Affairs for the entire magocracy. Like many who Archelaos raised to high authority, she found herself a member of his seraglio, but among all of them she is probably the one who views it the most transactionally, and her focus on proving herself worthy of her new positions means she is less focused on that aspect of her life, maintaining it only to the extent she needs to.

Education

Hypatia attended the Oceanic School of Wizardry for a time, but was quickly reassigned to apprentice under many of Libria's research teams to get more individual attention and practical experience.
