Personal history
Archytas devoted his entire life to the deep lore accessible only within Libria's ancient temple. He spent over thirty years in charge of the Project, before his advancing age prompted him to resign the position in order to pursue avenues of potential immortality. Even with his changed focus, he has retained primary ownership of several lesser projects, and remains an invaluable resource for the members of the Project as well. Archytas cares little who rules the Magocracy or how, but normally tends to resist change and the distractions it brings. It is believed a large part of the reason Archelaos invested so much in the creation of his pet lich was to essentially bribe Archytas with its study to keep him out of the initial conflict and any potential opposition factions afterwards.
Education
Archytas was one of the first mages of Hellenis to be invited to the Oceanic Wizard School, and it is in large part because of him that so many of Libria's magically gifted children can attend there today. Archytas would go on to study at several more impressive institutions, including the Institute of Arcanism at the Imperial University, the College of Wizardry at the University of Oros, and all three Athenaeums.
