Personal history

Aikaterine became enamored with the thought of the Philosopher's Stone as a young girl, and it has since grown into an all-consuming obsession. On the long and perilous road to her goal, she has become Libria's foremost expert on Transmutation. In fact, so long as the project can be framed as a stepping stone on her way, she essentially functions as an entire research team devoted to the school. The authorities of Libria have never been shy of using this tactic to benefit the city, though of course they also realize how much they would benefit were she to succeed, so most often there is some thought given to advancing her personal agenda as well. Archelaos brought with him an enormous collection of lore on her preferred subject matter, and so was able to immediately secure her loyalty to his new regime and himself personally. She was so eager to get access to the collection that she interrupted his offer to join his consort seraglio with an acceptance when he had only offered a small portion of the dowry. This so amused and flattered him that he gifted her even more than he'd planned.

Education

Aikaterine took her initial lessons from her parents and their peers, studied at the Oceanic School of Wizardry as soon as she was old enough to be accepted, and spent time as an apprentice on one of Libria's research teams. Only the very first years of her life were not dedicated to magical learning.
