Sirens

Sirens were the children of the twin gods Kepedaska and her brother Sklooxkar, the two made the sirens in their image, winged, aquatic humanoids. Sklooxkar teaching them the joys of the arts, especially music, as well as they joys of drink, festivities and theatre. Kepedaska taught sirens the love of more physical performances; sport, flight and combat, she often led her children to fly in the storms of her making. Both taught their children to take care of themselves both physically and mentally.   Now sirens tend to be found along the coastline of the Kingdom of Thalavis. They prefer to remain near the coasts, their settlements built into the cliff faces as the gentle roar of the ocean waves and the roiling of thunderous storms calms their roiling emotions. Within these halls built to enhance their singing, they sing haunting lamentations, captivating listeners and transporting them to a bygone age.   The death of their deities to the Dark One has left a terrible scar of the collective psyche of all sirens. Sirens typically experience fluctuating moods from one day to the next, ranging from extreme joy and hope for the future, to extreme sorrow and pessimism. No matter how a siren feels, they expresses their emotion through song. On good days, they may annoy their companions with chirpy melodies and vocal warm-ups as she glides around on outstretched wings. Bad days, on the other hand, may see them moaning and wailing and dragging their feet. The songs of loss along with their unending sorrow is instinctively known to every newborn siren. A cruel twist of the knife is sirens only can fly when they are filled with joy and lighter emotions, something that rows rarer and rarer with each passing century.
