Ne'racanthi Character in Khinarzi | World Anvil

Ne'racanthi

The Maze Weaver, The Painter of Stars, The Eternal Dancer

Ne’racanthi, a god of magic, knowledge and the stars, was one of the ancient Dawn pantheons of the plane of Khinarzi. It is said they caught the first stars,, the very links to the other planes of the multiverse and brought them down and created the weave of magic for the plane, this weave was made physical as it was made into a labyrinth that guarded the entrance to the Khinarzi underworld, forever binding the plane of Khinarzi tightly to the other planes outside of the material plane forever. He was a patron of the first institutions of knowledge and learning and gave knowledge of language and writing to the people of Khinarzi. He along with their partner Sepikstola were considered the creators and patron deities of the aarakocra.
It is said Ne’racanthi when not wandering the night sky or teaching mortals, would be found within the labyrinth below, dancing an eternal dance to add to and modify the weave and the labyrinth. It is said that those who could solve the labyrinth’s puzzle would gain secret knowledge known only to the star god. It is also said that the labyrinth would bestow knowledge and wisdom to the souls of the departed passing through it, to show them their follies, their mistakes, but also to grant them closure to their quests in life.
When the Dark One came to the plane and slew Sklooxkar, Ne’racanthi and the pantheon came to fight the Dark One. He was felled in a magical duel with the Dark One, who while not quite as strong in magic, used both magic and martial strength to overcome his foe.
