Kobolds

Kobolds are the kin of dragons, made by the sun god Sepikstola in the earliest years of the Dawn Era. They were the third creation of the god. First Sepikstola made dragons who dominated the air and planes, second they made the dragonborn based off the lineages of the dragons, they would build the first draconic cities and helped spread law and order to the land. Then Sepikstola knew the cave and Underdark below would need to be populated. Some dragons found home in the dark spaces, but their size meant much was unreachable. So he created the first kobolds, the draconic essence was much weaker in these smaller creatures, but they could in moments of duress unleash it through their roars or other means.
Kobolds are not the most physically adept of the draconic races, but they make up for this in their teamwork and with creative ingenuity, dealing with challenges together, often with inventions or mechanisms to enable them to overcome many challenges.

Kobolds are one of the few folks suited to the Underdark who have not felt the blessings or call to aid from dread lm'grafedone. Some kobolds take this to mean their patron deity is still alive somewhere, so they dig. Exploring the Underdark and the mysterious places above ground to find their lost deity, though they do know not to dig too deep for there are places below the Underdark where horrors exist and places where the living should never go.
