Grung

Ithdwinrai is said to have made the grung in the Dawn Era, to be caretakers of the land. Now grung are mostly found in the Kingdom of Molba, but are found across the Five Kingdoms in small communities. They tend to prefer living in areas with readily available water sources to immerse themselves in so that they do not dry out. They are said to make very good farmers with it believed blessing of their creator god always let them know what to harvest and how to prepare for the changes in weather.
Grung come in a variety of colours. In primarily grung settlements in Molba, they tend to follow a meritocratic method of government. The colours often delineating their rank in he settlement. All grungs are a dull greenish grey when they are born, but each individual takes on the colour of its role as it grows to adulthood. Green grungs are the settlement’s defenders, farmers, and labourers, and blue grungs work as artisans and in other domestic roles. Supervising and guiding both groups are the purple grungs, which serve as administrators and commanders. Red grungs are the scholars and magic users of the community. They are usually deemed superior to purple, blue, and green grungs and given proper respect even by grungs of higher status. Higher ranks include orange grungs, which are elite warriors that have authority over all lesser grungs, and gold grungs, which hold the highest leadership positions. A settlements leader is always a gold grung. A grung may with sufficient commitment to the community and with confidence of those above them be promoted to a higher rank, which with a combination of potions and magic will lead to the grung changing colour to match their new role.
Outside of Molba, grung tend to be a variety of colours as they are not limited by a set rank structure and often grung who have a high degree of independence will leave the more ranked communities to make their way elsewhere. There is no animosity towards these grung though as they are viewed to have been touched with the spark of Ithdwinrai.
