Dragonborn

Dragonborn are the kin of dragons, made by the sun god Sepikstola in the earliest years of the Dawn Era. They were the second creation of the god. First Sepikstola made dragons who dominated the air and planes. The Sepikstola knew that like the other gods, they needed servants who would build settlements, civilisations and culture. So taking the essences of each draconic lineage did they make the dragonborn, they would build the first draconic cities and helped spread law and order across the land. It is said to their most devout followers of the other folk Sepikstola would ascend those worthy into dragonborn.
Now in the Twilight Era, those cities are long gone, as are the civilisations that made them. Dragonborn each instinctively know what they lost with the death of their patron deity, it is felt by each dragonborn differently, to some its is a heavy malaise making few things worth doing, in others it can come across as pessimism. Though there are many more who take this knowledge of what they lost and use it as a fire within, driving them to do what they can to make the Kingdom they call home the best it is.
This has lead to a stereotype of dragonborn being paragons of virtues, often noble knights fighting to protect the innocent and be beacons of law and order. While not accurate, it is true that many dragonborn, not taken over by the weight of their loss, take their inner turmoil and use it to drive them to making the world better than it was, each in their own unique way.
As new breeds of dragon emerge, some dragonborn young are being born matching these new dragon types. Some believe that as the newer Twilight Era dragons become more and more one with the plane, the ancient compact that bound dragonborn and dragon means new essences will appear in future dragonborn generations. Some of these based on essences bound to the new gods or the Soul of the plane itself are finding the sense of loss while still their is much less, instead being replaced by a new feeling not felt for an era....hope.
