Aarakocra

Aarakocra have two parental deities, the sun god, Sepikstola and their husband Ne’racanthi, god of magic. It is said this is why Aarakocra have two kinds of head that of a hawk and the other an Ibis. Aarakocra can be found amongst all the Five Kingdoms, living mostly in cities high-up, either the tree cities of Neoko or the cities built high up in the mountain peaks alongside the avariel and mountain dwarves.
In these high altitude cities the Aarakocra, fulfil their ancient purpose to guard the skies. In the days of the Dawn Era it was unclear what was meant by their purpose as wardens of the sky. But ever since the coming on the Dark One, it has never been more clear. Not all aarakocra though are warriors, and some choose to live on the ground with other folk, their ability to keep flying for extended periods of time sees them being sought out to be hired as couriers, others seek them out as navigators for ships, but some become shepherds, farmers, traders, etc.
Ibis headed aarakocra are more commonly seen in academic institutions and in arcane careers than their hawk headed kin. This is believed to be due to the fact the Ne’racanthi is often depicted with an Ibis head, denoting them ibis headed aarakocra as his children, compared to the hawk headed aarakocra are Sepikstola's children. Ne’racanthi was the god who made the labyrinth, that guards the underworld, the labyrinth that is the very weave of magic for Khinarzi. As such it seems his children have indeed inherited their fathers aptitude for arcane insight. Interestingly potentially because of their dual parentage the aarakocra are the only one of Sepikstola's children not to have some malady afflict them after their death.
