Tal'jeerann Rank/Title in Keverynn | World Anvil

Tal'jeerann

Appointment

In Aurann, this person is chosen from among the council of elders and rotates through the Five Tribes. There is an equal chance of them being human as there is of he or she being a wolfling. The current Tal'jeerann is K'sei, a human woman.   Among the people of Horyinn, this position is hereditary. A new Ta;l'jeerann is usually the child of the previous one, but in cases where this is not possible, the Council of Chieftains meets in the Sacred Wood and spends a week in fasting and meditation to determine who will replace the Tal’jeerann. Rialsirsha is the cousin of her predecessor.   Sutar is strictly Matriarchal in nature and leadership is hereditary. Succession is determined by a green, star shaped marking that appears naturally on the back of the one who will be the next Tal’jeerann. This mark is present at birth. No one is entirely sure why or how it began to appear but no one questions it. Yanoltelann is the current person who bears this mark.   Only men can become the Tal’jeerann in Tir’ri. This man is usually the strongest warrior. Competitions are held in order for the Tal’jeerann to find himself an Heir. This usually happens in his 10th year of his reign, though some have held the Bak’lenn (trials of the blade) sooner than that. Keshinyu has not yet ruled long enough to begin searching for an heir.   Leadership usually falls to the humans in Tchupak as it is hereditary. The eldest child usually becomes the Tal’jeerann when their parent holding the position dies. Should the Tal’jeerann die without a blood heir or without appointing one, the tribal elders come together to choose a new Tal’jeerann, who is then presented to the people for their approval. If this individual is unacceptable, the process continues until one who is acceptable is found. Kori is the latest heir in a long, unbroken line.
