The Human Ascension

Era beginning/end

Roughly three thousand years before the concord, a new sentient race appeared in Kethencia, humankind. While initially the arrival of the fragile, magic-less, short lived race received relatively little attention, in an act of benevolence the dwarves and elves agreed to take the humans under their protection and tutelage. They discovered that the humans had a surprising inner strength and drive. While the elves pitied the humans for their lack of magic and crudeness, they discovered that the humans took quickly to the arts and magic and discovered that with practice, the humans could create things of beauty, master magic, and had a love of adventure. Meanwhile, while the dwarves pitied the humans for their fleeting lifespans and lack of tradition, they discovered that although the humans did not live as long, they possessed incredible ambition and inner resilience.   The humans learned the lessons of the elves and dwarves well, and in many ways their culture became of fusion of their own beliefs and gods and those of the dwarves and elves who had tutored them.
