Sephine, Goddess of the Sea, the Spirit, and Peace (Seh-FEEN.)

Goddess of Sea and Spirit Sephine (a.k.a. The Lady of the Deep)

Divine Domains

The goddess of the sea, Sephine is much like Tempus in that her moods can change quickly, from ferocity to serenity, but Sephine is often seen as a deity of order in that although the ocean may appear chaotic, as a common saying within her faith goes "every wave was once a ripple." The ocean's propensity towards order and calmness, such as in the predictability of the tides, means the clerics and paladins who follow Sephine often use the Order and Knowledge domains. Sailors and traders frequently pray to her before their travels for protection, as the fierce ocean storms and massive waves which might wreck ships are seen as her wrath, and therefore it is not uncommon to find devotees of Sephine practicing the Tempest or Protection domains, while Sephine's more straightforward followers might tend towards the Nature domain, wielding raw elemental power of the ocean.  Finally, Sephine is goddess of the spirit, soul, and the guardian of thought and memory. It is often said that while "Celestian gave humans knowledge, Sephine taught them to use it," and therefore Sephine's followers frequently embody the Knowledge domain, while the final aspect of Sephine's domain, peace, is perhaps her most

Holy Books & Codes

As a member of the Twelve, Sephine's followers obey the Twelve Points and use it as their primary holy book. Sephine also has her own specific set of laws which are known as the Laws of the Sea, and which most sailors obey (for fear of angering the lady of the deep). These laws generally involve a specific code which sailors follow when away from land.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Sephine's holy animal is the Dolphin, and she is frequently depicted as one in art. When depicted in human form, Sephine is generally portrayed as a young woman carrying a trident and net and wearing pearls. Her holy symbols are the Conches, which are used at her temples and on some ships in honor of her during rituals and ceremonies, pearls, which frequently adorn jewelry and art representing her, and finally the scallop, which adorns temples in her name.

Tenets of Faith

As a member of the Twelve, Sephine's followers adhere to the tenets espoused in the Twelve Points, and many also keep a specific code at sea known as the Laws of the Sea.
