Gnome

Basic Information

Anatomy

Gnomes are small, bipedal humanoids standing at roughly three feet tall.

Growth Rate & Stages

Gnomish children mature at the same rate as humans, and most are expected to settle into their adult life around the age of forty. After reaching adulthood, gnomes tend to live far longer than humans, with an average lifespan of around three and a half centuries, though its not uncommon for gnomes to reach their fifth century.

Ecology and Habitats

Gnomes can be found worldwide, though they tend to congregate in secluded places.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The dietary needs and habits of gnomes are generally similar to that of humans or elves, though notably most gnomes are vegetarians.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

Gnomes have pointed ears like elves, belying their fae origins, although gnomish ears tend to be bigger than elven ears (and may even seem disproportionate to their heads). Gnomish features tend to be angular and well defined, absent the soft pudginess or childlike appearance of halfling faces. Gnomish eyes are also unique, as although they can share the same range of colors human irises present, gnomish eyes sparkle with vibrant color like gemstones, ranging from emerald greens, sapphire blues, amethyst purples, ruby reds, or amber golds.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Gnomes can be found worldwide. Most gnomes found on the surface are either forest gnomes or rock gnomes, while gnomes found in the underdark are overwhelmingly svirfneblin.

Average Intelligence

Although gnomes often are reputed to be more intelligent than the other intelligent races of Kethenicaea, this apparent intelligence is more accurately attributed to the gnomes' irrepressible curiosity, rather than any genuine difference in intellectual capabilities.
