Witch's Hat of Minabi

Overview

The Witch's Hat is worn by the Heks of the Wixen

Mechanics & Inner Workings

This is a magical hat imbued with the power of Minabi. When worn, everyone around knows that the wearer is blessed by Minabi.

History

The Witch's Hat of Minabi was given to the Heksaro, the first Wixen leader, when she started the first circle dedicated to the worship of Minabi, Deity of Magic more than 4,000 years ago. Minabi blessed that first circle with powerful magic, blessed Heksaro with abundant fertility, and blessed the Wixen with longevity.   Minabi is one of the younger deities of Kerawa, and as such had never had worshippers before. Ze imbued ze magic into the hat to make it shine with otherworld energy. The energy dances around the wearer, infusing them with the magic of Minabi. Everyone around them knows that they are blessed.   On Heksaro's death bed, she declared her daughter, Morria, would be the next leader of the Wixen. The twelve houses didn't like Morria because she, like her mother before her, wouldn't bow down to their whims, so they captured her and tried to elect their own leader, Morria's sister, Vidia. However, when the Witch's Hat touched Vidia's head, Vidia was set on fire.    They tried on three other young women and one young man. Two of the women and the one man both died by fire. The last young woman was Morria and Vidia's youngest sister, Derwydd. She didn't want to wear the Witch's Hat even before she knew that it was setting people on fire. When the hat touch her head, it was inert for a few seconds, and then shot off her head and onto the head of the Wixen trying to find a different leader, setting her on fire instead.   Derwydd took the Witch's Hat from the rest of the leaders of the Twelve houses, found where they were hiding Morria, and gave her the Witch's Hat. Morria put on the Witch's Hat and became the new leader. Her first act was to declare the current leaders of the Twelve house as traitors and have them put on trial. Then she called up on the house to elect new leaders who she raised to be part of the first Conclave, with her as the first Heks, name such in honor of her mother.   Now, each local area has a Conclave that runs the Wixen, while the High Conclave runs all the Wixen on Kerawa.
