The Dead of Mere'kak
The city of Mere'kak has different customs surrounding death than much of the rest of Ken'Ser'Aya. While they still send their dead down the river to the loving embrace and judgement of Aya, they also pass down a part of the themselves to their descendants. Upon the death of a follower of this custom, one of their relatives must find their corpse and consume a small portion of it, traditionally a pinkie finger. In this way the generations live on, and an elderly member of a family may be carrying a hundred ancestors in this manner.
Because of this tradition, the worst punishement of Mere'Kak is to be transformed to stone, and the punishment is reserved for only the highest crimes
