City of Blades
Why's it called the city of blades? Cause all the windmills ya nit! Also its home to the most ancient mercenary company in the world.
Demographics
Predominantly dwarven, human, and dragonborn.
Government
There is no 'leader' of the city, but the Captain of the Free Legion effectively runs the place.
Defences
If you try to invade the City, the Free Legion will offer your greatest enemy a very good price to get rid of your army. Also they have walls around the parts of the city not on the lake.
Industry & Trade
The settlement trades in armor, weapons, and mercenaries.
Infrastructure
There are 30 windmills along the lake shore here, which power the flour trade and some of the weapons trade for the city.
History
The Free Legion was made up of regular mercenaries until 980 ATD. Their captain, having been stiffed by yet another employer, decided they needed a place to camp where they could grow their own food if the employer's stiffed them. It grew and grew, becoming a place for the families of the Legion to stay. As it became established great smiths and leatherworkers were drawn in, until it became the bustling city it is today.
Architecture
This city was originally a barracks and it shows - many of the buildings are crude with decorations tacked on well after building. The windmills are the only true beauty, built with imported lumber and stone, and rising above the rest of the city's square buildings.
