Special Abilities
Freeze Water: As an action, the Yuki Onna can instantly freeze up to 30 cubic feet of water within a 30-foot radius that it can see. The frozen water remains solid for 1 hour, unless melted by a significant heat source or dismissed by the Yuki Onna.
Hover: The Yuki Onna is able to hover up to 5 feet off the ground
Frost Focus: The Yuki Onna can cast one of its spells without expending a spell slot once per long rest. When using Frost Focus, an additional effect is applied based on the specific spell:
Ray of Frost: If the target is hit, it takes an additional 1d6 cold damage, and the movement speed reduction is doubled (from 10 feet to 20 feet) until the start of the Yuki Onna’s next turn.
Frostbite: The target has disadvantage on its next attack roll and also takes an extra 1d6 cold damage. Additionally, if it fails the Constitution saving throw, it cannot take reactions until the end of its next turn.
Ice Knife: The explosion of ice shards expands to affect all creatures within a 15-foot radius (instead of 5 feet). Creatures that fail the Dexterity saving throw also have their movement speed reduced by 10 feet until the end of their next turn.
Snilloc’s Snowball Swarm: Targets that fail their saving throw are blinded by a flurry of snow and ice until the start of their next turn.
Rime’s Binding Ice: The area affected by the spell becomes difficult terrain for 1 minute, and any creatures that fail their saving throw are restrained by thick ice (instead of just having their speed reduced). Restrained creatures can make a Strength check to free themselves at the end of each of their turns.
Sleet Storm: The sleet storm creates an additional layer of ice beneath the area, causing all creatures who fail a Dexterity saving throw to fall prone upon entering or starting their turn in the area.
Wall of Ice: The wall’s segments deal double damage to any creature that passes through them. Additionally, the wall can be shaped to form intricate barriers or defensive positions with ease.
Ice Storm: The hailstones leave behind sharp icy spikes that create difficult terrain for 1 minute. Creatures that start their turn on the spikes take an additional 1d8 cold damage.
Control Water: If used to freeze water, the created ice structure becomes incredibly durable, gaining temporary hit points equal to twice the Yuki Onna’s level. If used to redirect water flow, any affected water is temporarily frozen in place, allowing safe passage for 10 minutes.
Cone of Cold: The cone creates a lingering frozen field that counts as difficult terrain for 1 minute. Any creature that starts its turn within this area takes 1d8 cold damage.
Frost Focus Effect: Allies within the area of effect gain temporary hit points equal to the Yuki Onna’s level and resistance to cold damage for 1 minute. Enemies that enter the area must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or have their speed reduced by 15 feet.
Icy Glide (Unlocked at 3rd-Level Summoning): When the Yuki Onna moves on ice or icy terrain, its movement speed increases by 10 feet, and it gains advantage on Dexterity (Acrobatics) checks related to balance and movement. Additionally the area right under the Yuki Onna will magically freeze instantly, and dissapear when the Yuki Onna moves.
Cold Empowerment (Unlocked at 4th-Level Summoning): Whenever the Yuki Onna casts a spell that deals cold damage, it can empower the spell to deal an extra 1d6 cold damage. This increases by 1d6 for every two summoning levels beyond 4th (e.g., 2d6 at 6th-level summoning, etc.).
Winter’s Grasp (Unlocked at 6th-Level Summoning): As an action, the Yuki Onna can create a 15-foot-radius area of freezing cold centered on a point it can see within 60 feet. Each creature in the area must make a Constitution saving throw or take 4d6 cold damage and be restrained by ice until the end of their next turn. On a successful save, creatures take half damage and are not restrained.
Recharge: This ability can be used once per short or long rest.
Glacial Armor (Unlocked at 7th-Level Summoning): As a bonus action, the Yuki Onna can envelop itself in a layer of magical ice, gaining temporary hit points equal to twice its level and resistance to fire damage for 1 minute. This ability can be used once per long rest.
Absolute Zero (Unlocked at 9th-Level Summoning): The Yuki Onna can channel the power of absolute cold, creating a 60-foot cone of freezing energy. All creatures within the cone must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 10d8 cold damage and is paralyzed for 1 minute (repeat save at the end of each turn to end the paralysis). On a successful save, a creature takes half damage and is not paralyzed.
Recharge: This ability can be used once per long rest.
