Pact of the Shokansha

Pact of the Shokansha

You have made a pact with a powerful summoner, binding your essence to them as their loyal shikigami. Whether this patron is a celestial, fiend, archmage, or even a yokai master, their power flows through you, enhancing your abilities while tethering you to their will. As their shikigami, you are both their servant and a manifestation of their strength, able to draw upon their energy to manifest incredible abilities.

Shokansha Spells

  • 1st Find Familiar, Command
  • 2nd Summon Beast, Mirror Image
  • 3rd Summon Shadowspawn, Counterspell
  • 4th Summon Greater Demon, Polymorph
  • 5th Summon Celestial, Wall of Force
  •

    Shikigami’s Binding

At 1st level, you gain the following abilities as a result of your shikigami bond:
  • Summoner’s Boon: Your patron grants you a boon in the form of enhanced endurance. Your hit point maximum increases by 1 for each warlock level you have, and you gain advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened.
  • Shikigami Recall: As a bonus action, you can teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space you can see. This range increases to 60 feet at 10th level. When you use this ability, you leave behind a spectral afterimage for 1 round. Hostile creatures within 5 feet of the afterimage have disadvantage on their next attack roll against any creature other than you.
  •

    Summoner’s Mark

At 6th level, your patron grants you the ability to channel their energy more effectively through your bond. You can place a mystical mark upon a creature you can see within 60 feet as a bonus action. The mark lasts for 1 minute or until you use this feature again. While a creature is marked:
  • Your spells and attacks deal an extra 1d8 force damage to the marked creature.
  • The marked creature has disadvantage on saving throws against spells you cast.
  •   Once you use this feature, you can’t do so again until you finish a short or long rest.

    Shared Presence

At 10th level, your bond with your summoner allows you to share their resilience. Whenever you fail a saving throw, you can choose to reroll the save, potentially using your summoner’s strength to bolster your resolve. Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a short or long rest.   Additionally, when you use Shikigami Recall, you can now teleport to any location within 30 feet of your patron (if they are present in the same plane of existence) instead of just a space you can see.

    Avatar of the Summoner

At 14th level, you can channel your summoner’s power directly into a divine or terrifying manifestation. As an action, you assume the form of your patron’s chosen avatar for 1 minute, gaining the following benefits:
  • You gain temporary hit points equal to twice your warlock level.
  • You have advantage on attack rolls, and your spells ignore resistance to damage.
  • As a bonus action on your turn, you can create a spectral projection of your patron within 30 feet of you. The projection lasts until the end of your next turn and can make one spell attack or weapon attack (your choice), dealing force damage equal to 2d10 + your Charisma modifier.
  •   Once you use this feature, you cannot do so again until you finish a long rest.

Pact Boons for the Summoner's Pact

These pact boons can reflect the shikigami's role as an extension of their summoner’s power.   Pact of the Chain. Your familiar becomes a greater shikigami, capable of delivering spells as if you had cast them. Additionally, it gains temporary hit points equal to your warlock level whenever you finish a short or long rest.   Pact of the Blade. Your summoned weapon is imbued with your summoner’s essence. When you deal damage with your pact weapon, you can reroll one damage die per turn and must use the new roll.   Pact of the Tome. Your patron’s summoning grimoire contains unique rituals. You learn the Find Familiar spell and can cast it without using a spell slot. When you cast Find Familiar, you can summon a spectral or elemental shikigami with enhanced abilities, such as additional hit points and damage resistances.

Eldritch Invocations for the Summoner's Pact

Shikigami’s Persistence (Prerequisite: Pact of the Chain, 5th Level). When your familiar is reduced to 0 hit points, it reappears after 1 minute instead of requiring a new casting of Find Familiar.   Mark of the Master (Prerequisite: Summoner’s Mark, 7th Level). Your Summoner’s Mark ability deals an additional 1d8 damage, and your marked target has disadvantage on attack rolls against you.   Summoner’s Reach (Prerequisite: Pact of the Blade). Your pact weapon gains the reach property. When you hit a creature with it, you can teleport 10 feet closer to your patron as part of the attack.
