Jizo Guardian

Path of the Jizo Guardian

The Path of the Jizo Guardian calls upon the protective and compassionate spirit of Jizo Bodhisattva, guardian of travelers, children, and souls in the afterlife. Practitioners of this path dedicate themselves to safeguarding the vulnerable and guiding lost souls to peace. Through their devotion, they summon protective wards, shield allies from harm, and offer blessings that turn the tide of battle. The Jizo Guardian stands as a compassionate shield, steadfast and unwavering even in the face of darkness.

    Jizo’s Blessing

At 3rd level, you can invoke the protective power of Jizo Bodhisattva to shield your allies. As an action, you can choose up to three creatures within 30 feet. For 1 minute, each target gains temporary hit points equal to your level + your Wisdom modifier. Additionally, while the blessing is active, affected creatures have advantage on saving throws against being frightened. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of once) and regain all expended uses after a long rest.

    Guardian’s Vigilance

At 6th level, your vigilance and protective instincts sharpen. You can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on an attack roll made against an ally within 30 feet of you. Additionally, if an ally within range falls to 0 hit points, you can spend 2 Karma Points to cause them to drop to 1 hit point instead. Once you use this reaction, you cannot do so again until you finish a short or long rest.

    Jizo’s Sanctuary

When you reach 10th level, you can create a protective sanctuary imbued with spiritual energy. As an action, you can designate an area within a 20-foot-radius sphere centered on a point within 60 feet. The sanctuary lasts for 1 minute and has the following effects:
  • Allies within the area regain hit points equal to 2d6 + your Wisdom modifier at the start of their turns.
  • Enemies that enter or start their turn in the sanctuary must make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or be slowed (as per the slow spell) until they leave the area or succeed on a saving throw at the end of their turn. Once you use this feature, you cannot do so again until you finish a long rest.
  •

    Eternal Guardian

At 14th level, you embody the unyielding protection of Jizo Bodhisattva. As an action, you can spend 5 Karma Points to create an aura of protection with a 30-foot radius centered on you for 1 minute. While this aura is active:
  • Allies within the aura gain resistance to all damage.
  • Allies cannot be frightened, charmed, or stunned while within the aura.
  • When an ally within the aura takes damage, you can use your reaction to absorb half of the damage they would have taken, transferring it to yourself. Once you use this feature, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest.
  •

Sutra Invocation: Sutra of Compassionate Protection

When you choose the Path of the Jizo Guardian at 3rd level, you gain access to the Sutra of Compassionate Protection.   Sutra of Compassionate Protection As an action, you can recite this sutra to create a protective ward around yourself and all allies within 30 feet. For 1 minute, all affected creatures gain the following benefits:
  • They gain temporary hit points equal to twice your level.
  • They have advantage on Wisdom, Constitution, and Charisma saving throws.
  • Any hostile creature that attempts to strike or harm a protected ally must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, their attack is redirected to you if you are within range.
  • Once you use this Sutra Invocation, you cannot do so again until you finish a short or long rest.
