Eight Trigrams Furnace

  • Level: 7th-level Evocation
  • School: Evocation
  • Casting Time: 1 action
  • Range: 60 feet
  • Components: V, S, M (an engraved Bagua mirror and a piece of each of the five elements worth 500 gp)
  • Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute
  •   Description: You conjure a massive furnace of elemental energy centered on a point within range, inscribed with the Eight Trigrams (Bagua). The furnace occupies a 30-foot-radius sphere and glows with shifting elemental energies that you can control.   While concentrating on this spell, you can use your action on subsequent turns to channel one of the following effects:
  • Elemental Convergence: Choose one element (fire, water, earth, metal, or wood). Each creature of your choice within the furnace must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, it takes 10d8 damage of the chosen type, or half as much on a successful save. The area becomes difficult terrain of that elemental type for 1 round (e.g., flaming ground, icy water).
  • Balancing Purge: Unleash a wave of Yin and Yang energy. All hostile creatures within the furnace must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, they take 5d8 radiant or 5d8 necrotic damage (your choice) and are blinded until the end of their next turn. Allies within the area are healed for 2d8 hit points.
  • Seal of the Trigrams: You attempt to trap a creature within the furnace. The target must make a Wisdom saving throw or be restrained within a spiritual vortex of swirling elemental energy. While restrained, the creature takes 4d8 force damage at the start of each of its turns. It can make another Wisdom saving throw at the end of each of its turns to escape.
  •   Once the spell ends, the area remains marked with faint symbols of the Eight Trigrams, providing a lingering aura that grants allies +2 to AC against attacks made by fiends, undead, and extraplanar creatures for 1 minute.
