Vita Absortion Machine

The Vita Absorption Machine or VAM for short was an invention built by V.I.T.A. to stop people from being Vita-Touched. Though planned to go into mass-production, the design was never finished, and only the prototypes ever existed.

History

Though many attempts at stopping people from being Vita-Touched were made by V.I.T.A., the first version of the VAM was only built in 839, when enough Vita-Touched patients to experiment became available, be it voluntarily or as captured Magai.
Over time, the VAM went through several iterations. It was intended to be perfected so it could be mass-produced, but this point was never reached. Even in its final version, it didn't function properly, cause severe damage to the patient's Vita core but not disabling it, turning them Saturated: capable of magic but unable to control it.
The only prototype of the VAM was destroyed in the year 870, when V.I.T.A. was taken down.

Significance

Significant mostly as a symbol of how Vita-Touched were seen: a pest whose abilities set them apart, in a way that had to be fixed. Even in the last version to exist, the major problem was that it didn't work well enough, not the extreme pain and severe mental harm it did to its patients.
