Lani Thule
(Magai) Maven Lani Thule
Lani Thule was one of the many Magai who died during the storming of the Grand Magai Temple in the year 834. Unlike many, however, she was not much of a fighter, and her knowledge of magic was centered more on aiding her in her research, rather than protecting herself. When she and her Disciple, Rho Lightstrike, were driven into a corner, Lani made a last stand to ensure Rho could get away.
Prior to her death, Lani was an enthusiastic researcher and explorer. She had reached Maven rank in several fields, key of which were Handling and Exploration, and had planned on pursuing the first to the rank of Adept. She was primarily a biologist, knowledge-wise, but knew quite a few things about other fields too.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Fairly typical; slim but powerful muscles. Some scarring due to animal attacks, but no hindrance.
Body Features
As a krshovak, Lani is notably alien in appearance. She is very slim in stature, especially in the shoulders, but is instead deeper; she is more vertically flat, compared to humans being horizontally flat. Like normal for krshovaks, Lani has a long eel-like tail, flat and with a fin running over its spine, and up onto her back. She also has pointed claw-like nails on her hands, and short spines on the pads of her fingers. On her neck she has gill-slits, though they're usually kept closed to stop them from drying out. Instead of hair, Lani has long but flat kelp-like tentacles on her head, which fall flat outside of the water, dragged down by gravity.
Facial Features
Lani's face is flattened, with slits instead of nostrils, and large round eyes, granting her keen eyesight. She lacks outer ears altogether, making her hearing rather muffled compared to other humanoids. Her brow ridge is somewhat heavy but flat, her head narrow. Her lips are neither thin nor thick, and hide an array of sharp pointy teeth.
Identifying Characteristics
The easiest way to recognize Lani is the combination of her facial features and her patterns, which curl on the sides of her forehead, and from the corners of her eyes and down onto her cheeks.

Contacts & Relations
Lani's most notable relationship was with Rho Lightstrike, her first and only Disciple, as she died before finishing his training. Like all student-teacher pairs in the Grand Order of the Magai, they were close, with Lani practically raising Rho from his early teens until his late teens, when she died.
