Vexona 'The Lady of The Wood' (Vex-Owna)

The Lady of The Wood

Vexona The Lady of The Wood   The Goddess of Nature   The Forest Queen   A Patron of Druids and Rangers   The Daughter of Solonar & Velona

Vexona

People rarely speak of Vexona except in quiet forest spaces. Woodlands that evoke wonder are where she reigns supreme, but she is said to keep watch over good folk in any forest, not matter how dark or cruel. When children are lost in the woods, people beseech Vexona to protect them until they are found.   Vexona is the goddess of the forest and the creatures that live within ii. She is seen as a remote and spiritual deity- less human-like than many other gods. She is not unmindful of people, but her attention and favour are difficult to attract. She is the patron of rangers in the same way that Milira is the patron of bards, but even rangers rarely pray to her directly. They instead pray to Mandon Greystorm, who they believe will carry their words to the goddess by tracking her to whichever forest or woodland she hides in at that time.   Most tales depict Vexona as a beautiful woman often riding a pure white unicorn, it is said the two are thought to be boon companions. Vexona's relationships with other deities of the natural world are more complex. Segojan is thought by some to be her father, not her grandfather, but this is incorrect, Solonar son of Segojan is her father. Some also think Velona is her sister, when she is in fact her mother. Vexona is a free spirit and walks her own paths through the wilds accompanied by her fox and hawk animal companions.   Vexona has many shrines, particularly in The Savage North (The Northern Wastes), Amoria, Northern Pelosia, The Kingdom of Gondonia, and Zamoria. Most consist of a dead tree trunk into which has been carved a likeness of her holy symbol, a sleeping fox, or a hovering hawk. Alternatively, the likeness might be carved on a separate piece of wood and tacked to a living tree. These shrines typically mark the point in a forest or woodland beyond which locals know not to cut timber or hunt. Often these tributes are created by loggers at the end of a logging excursion as a mark of thanks to the goddess for providing the wood and for keeping the timber cutters safe during the work.   Vexona is the daughter of Solonar and Velona, and the sister of Seluna. Vexona has the powers of a 15th level Ranger, a 10th level Cleric, and a 10th level Druid.
