Fargoth's journal entry 56

General Summary

Journal entry 56-   After weeks alone in the wilderness, I’ve finally arrived in a town named Venzor. Tired and hungry I made my way to a local Inn to procure food and lodging. Running low on coin I also ask about any local job opportunities. After hearing about how the locals are asking for adventures to help with some sort of trouble, I get some much-needed sleep and head over to find out what is happening. Soon after, before I even have a chance to contemplate what I’ve gotten myself into, I’m heading west out of town with a small band of strangers. They seemed to know more about this sort of thing than I do so I kept my mouth shut and just tried to fit in as much as possible. Although I’m sure I saw a couple of “knowing looks” passed between some of the more experienced looking members and might have even heard one say something about, “too wet behind his slightly pointed ears”. No matter, I desperately need some coin to stock back up for my journey. We eventually arrived at a small wooden area where we heard the trouble had begun. I immediately felt on edge. There was definitely something “off” about the woods. We headed in and soon found signs of a battle between some of the locals and the spiders he were warned about. Not long after we found a clearing with a lone dead looking tree (the tree is self was covered in the skin of past victims it seemed) with what appeared to be husks of some sort hanging from the branches. After investigating the area, we found ourselves in a fight for our lives against some humanoid plant like creatures but after quickly dispatching these creatures with ease,we were taken surprise by giant spiders! I myself was attacked from behind and quickly thought it was the end of me as the spider’s fangs sunk deep into shoulder and I was immediately knocked unconscious. Luckily, I was healed by one of the members and brought back from the precipice of death. Next the group decided to explore a partially hidden door that led to some caverns, where we fought more of the strange creatures we found on the surface. Eventually we made our way to a larger chamber where we found the “Root” of the problem. (Pun Intended). An evil Druid was preforming some type of dark ritual on the roots of the above tree we earlier found and was apparently causing the spiders and blights to spawn in the area. Sadly though we killed the Druid before we could get any more information on why. But not before we also suffered our own casualty, our Bard Astrael was slain in the final battle that almost took all our lives. In the end though, we were victorious and took the coin and items we found along with our dead comrade and limped ourselves back to town. Little did I know after putting all the coin together it was a very significant amount! We had enough to help Asrael come back from the dead! We raced her corpse to the famed “Miracle Max”, where he preformed a resurrection spell upon her and true to his name, the Princess was miraculously brought back to life! What followed next can only be explained as the most wild night of my young life (well the parts I can remember anyways), It was a celebration to end all celebrations. For the first time in my life I felt happy to be around others again. Well, at least until the next morning… Ughh My head still hurts. While as exhilarating as the adventure was I almost died on three separate instances, only to be rescued from death by one of the others. I seriously contemplated giving up this adventuring life as fast as it had started. But I gained some valuable experience and learn not to repeat the mistakes I had made. And the group,well….. I owe them my life and as such decided to stick around a bit longer as opposed to this continual running I’ve grown so accustomed to. And who knows, I might have run far enough away that the Dark Ones that they won’t find me this time. Besides… I could really get used to how my coin pouch isn’t quite so empty anymore.
