Ikses, God of the Insane

Ikses, the God of Insanity, is a chaotic deity who represents the irrational and unpredictable aspects of the mind. Believed to exist beyond the bounds of reality and logic, Ikses is said to hold power over the thoughts and perceptions of those who worship him. Followers of Ikses believe that the deity's chaotic influence can lead to unpredictable breakthroughs of creativity, inspiration, and unexpected solutions to problems. However, this power comes at a cost, as many who delve too deeply into the realm of Ikses risk losing touch with reality and descending into madness. As such, worship of Ikses is often considered taboo, and those who follow him are often seen as outcasts or troublemakers by society at large. Despite this, Ikses has a dedicated cult following, who believe that by embracing the unpredictable nature of the deity, they can achieve great things and unlock the full potential of their minds.

Artifacts

The Twisted Mirror: A large, ornate mirror that distorts and twists the reflection of those who look into it. The mirror is said to reveal hidden knowledge about the world, but also one's innermost fears and anxieties. Looking into it for too long can result in permanent madness.   The Hourglass of Delirium: A twisted, coiling hourglass filled with iridescent purple sand that is said to manipulate time itself, warping and twisting the perceptions of those around it. Some say that whoever possesses the Hourglass can control the flow of time, slowing it down or speeding it up at will. Others claim that the Hourglass can induce hallucinations, leading its wielder and those around them into a never-ending spiral of madness that only seems to go on forever in their minds.

Holy Books & Codes

The holy books of Ikses are known as "The Unbound Pages" and are said to contain the secrets of his divine realm, Chaotica. The books are highly coveted by those seeking to understand the nature of madness, and it is believed that those who read them will be forever changed. The Unbound Pages are written in a cryptic language that is said to only be decipherable by the insane, making them difficult to study for those who are not completely committed to Ikses's teachings. The books are often lost and then found again, always into the possession of a devoted follower. It is considered a great honour to be chosen as the keeper of these sacred texts. The contents are said to be constantly changing, with no two devotees seeing the same thing.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The stylized spiral symbol of Ikses represents the unpredictable and chaotic nature of madness, embodying the idea that it can take hold of a person's mind and lead them down a dangerous path. The spiral also represents the idea of progression, as the lines move inward, symbolizing the descent into madness. The deep purples and reds associated with Ikses are meant to evoke the darker aspects of the human psyche, such as fear, violence, and loss of control. These colours also symbolize the pain and suffering that often accompany mental illness.   In religious art and iconography, the spiral symbol of Ikses is often depicted in these colours, reminding followers of the power of madness and the importance of controlling their own thoughts and emotions. It is also used to invoke the deity's power in rituals and spells related to the manipulation of the mind and the unravelling of sanity.

Tenets of Faith

  1. Embrace the Madness: Followers of Ikses believe that true enlightenment can only be achieved by surrendering oneself to the chaos and unpredictability of insanity. They view sanity as a mere illusion, and believe that embracing their own madness will allow them to unlock new levels of power and understanding.
  2. Chaos Reigns Supreme: Followers of Ikses believe that order and stability are the enemies of true progress and creativity. They seek to spread chaos and disruption in all aspects of life, and view any attempts to bring order as a threat to their deity's power. They believe that by embracing unpredictability and embracing their own inner madness, they can bring about a more chaotic and unpredictable world, which will ultimately lead to greater growth and progress.

Holidays

The Night of Bedlam: This is the most important holy day for Ikses' followers. It is celebrated on the autumn equinox and is a time of wild abandon, where the followers of Ikses engage in acts of madness and revelry. The celebrations involve frenzied dancing, wild laughter, and the consumption of hallucinogenic substances.   The Day of Delirium: This day is celebrated on the spring equinox and is a time for his followers to reflect on the teachings of Ikses and to embrace their inner madness. It is also a time to offer thanks to the deity for the gift of insanity.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

As the deity of Insanity, Ikses's divine goal is to spread madness and chaos throughout the world. He is believed to believe that life is more interesting and unpredictable when it is infused with madness and that the structure and order imposed on the world by other deities stifles the full potential of existence. Ikses's followers see him as a liberating force, freeing people from the constraints of reason and logic and allowing them to experience the world in new and exciting ways. However, non-followers often see his influence as dangerous and destabilizing, leading to unpredictability and suffering.
