Ithilen Cro

King Ithilen

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Ithilen Cro is of average physical condition. He is of average height, average build, average complexion. There is nothing physically remarkable about the man, except for the disgruntled glare he normally wears.

Facial Features

His eyes are dark and hard beneath thick but groomed brows. His mouth is often set in a near grimace, as though he finds everything around him distasteful.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

King Ithilen Cro was always a disappointment to his father, the late King Ithilen De. Not quite strong enough or coordinated enough to be an effective fighter, not quite clever enough to handle the coffers, not quite insightful enough to be a diplomat, Ithilen Cro was always brushed aside by his father in favor of his more competent brothers. The man has, understandably, grown resentful and insecure as he has grown older. He became king after his brothers died in different unfortunate circumstances and his father died of old age. He has since tried--and by nearly all accounts, failed--to be a greater king than his father.   To that end, he recently launched a surprise war against Ithilien's ally Noveska to the north in blatant disregard of his advisors' protestations. When the war begins to turn on him, he tries to sell his daughters to gain much needed reinforcements in a desperate attempt to put the war effort back in his favor.

Failures & Embarrassments

The king would never say as much, but he would consider virtually his entire life to be one monumental failure and embarrassment.

Mental Trauma

Ithilen De's treatment of his son was honestly nothing short of emotional and psychological abuse, the results of which are clearly visible for those who know what to look for.

Morality & Philosophy

The king, perhaps out of spite, has completely disregarded the philosophy of The Moroïs that his father held in such high regard. He is willing to do anything if it means improving his own image in the eyes of the Ithilien people, though not necessarily improving himself as a person.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Whether he realizes it or not, Ithilen Cro desperately hopes to earn the approval of his deceased father, a goal that is obviously and frustratingly impossible. Short of that, he struggles to show everyone else that he is not the failure he is convinced they believe him to be.

Vices & Personality flaws

Petty, insecure, prone to shouting

Social

Family Ties

He has two daughters, including Neidyn.

Mannerisms

Ithilen Cro is known for his fits of rage and being displeased by minor, petty things. He is vindictive over perceived slights.

Speech

The king has a voice like a heavy table being dragged across a floor: loud, awkward, immediately recognizable, and unfortunately impossible to ignore.
