Volsuni

Demo'rai Touched Lineage

"Without warning the man in front of you sweeps his heavy hood back, exposing startling scarlet skin, slightly parted lips showing large elongated incisors and two thick, bone-like horns protruding from his heavy brow. Seeing your shock he reflexively grins at you like a jester who just got a laugh."

Many different species have blood of the metanatural flowing through their veins. Regardless of circumstance, these individuals are usually no different from their parents, siblings, or extended family. Generally, these inhuman traces lie dormant in a bloodline, never showing themselves. The species as a whole has historically strived to seperate themselves from their heritage and intentionally named themselves volsuni, rather than more commonly used names that humans would use nearly as slander - demo-kin, demons, and monsters are not friendly terms.

When these latent genes do manifest, they throw open the door and come crashing into view. Rare as they are, the volsuni are physically marked by their heritage with Demo'rai coloration, and lesser physical traits that mirror their common physiology. There are many commonly shared characteristics among them however the physiology of each volsuni is relatively unique and even their children who inherit their traits are often vastly different in appearance from their volsuni parent.

Anatomy & Appearance
Unfortunately, volsuni are often mistaken for their truly monstrous ancestors; the Demo'rai. Their skin tones can be any range of reds and purples, sometimes pale, nearly white, or such a deep crimson that they appear black. Nearly all volsuni start growing bony horns on their brow, usually near their natural hairline, shortly after their second year. These horns can have a variety of appearances, mostly following bovidae styles and continue to grow their entire life.
Many other demo'rai/demon characteristics tend to show up on their anatomy, seemingly at random. Thick tails, webbed membranes between their fingers or under the arms, abnormally large teeth or jaws, and many more can create a very threatening appearance.
