Eacharis Ciliata Species in Kaos Rhythm | World Anvil

Eacharis Ciliata (ae:k a:res | 'sIl-e a:'ta)

A creeping vine that isn't native to Allegri, this plant produces large, nutritious vegetables comparable to common potatoes save for their odd coloration and sickeningly sour taste.

Eacharis Ciliata that they grow in small crops within the city walls. Each plant can produce six-to-eight vegetables every season. Roughly the size of the average potato and similar in appearance save for the deep crimson skin that can be eaten or be removed depending on how it will be prepared. Much like the volsuni themselves, when propogated and raised in the strange environment of VacĂo Sagrado they have an enhanced growth speed that allows for an almost constant harvest if planted appropriately in advance.

The Eacharis Ciliata is an uncommon, large plant and can normally be found only in deserts or arid regions. On Kaos it blooms in early spring and has tiny, squared leaves, which are usually pale yellowish/green with red speckles around the edges that often look like drops of blood spatter. It also grows small flowers closer to midsummer, which tend to be light shades of orange or pink.
As a defense mechanism the Eacharis Ciliata has red speckles on the leaves which look similar to an illness many plants suffer from, which deters animals since the plants appear sick. They rely on wind pollination to reproduce and grow the dense, starchy vegetables.

Interesting that it is cultivated and liked despite the taste.
