Allegran Giant Octopus Species in Kaos Rhythm | World Anvil

Allegran Giant Octopus

Most of the Allegran population live far from the coastal edges of the continent so witnessing this creature for the first time is basically considered nightmare fuel. Anomolous and amorphous, these massive aquatic creatures can weigh over 500lbs. and over 20m and often have over a dozen tentacles that grow from the lower portion of thier bodies. From a distance on the surface of the water these creatures are easily mistaken for a humanoid body floating on it's back but it's just the crest on their head when peering over the waters surface.
Although the primis Aldrek Demo'rai favours any and all cephelepodal creatures, for some mysterious reason his worshippers believe this specific creature is most prescious to him. Most who believe this cite some obscure piece of writing credited to Aldrek thousands of years ago that seemed to name them specifically among and above his other chosen beasts.

Basic Information

Anatomy

They have a large cirri directly below a t-shaped 'head' similar to a nautilus save for the bulbous head of octopi and long, thick tentacles. Most have between 8-12 tentacles ranging in length and size but roughly 8-times the length of their body and are strong enough to crush the thick timber used to support common piers built in coastal towns or tear the average person in half..

Ecology and Habitats

Like most octopods, the so-called Allegran giant octopus are generally not seen as strong swimmers when compared to other aquatic life; they are often found scavenging the sea floor instead of swimming long distances through the water. They do habitually float close to the surface where there is other floating debris or wreckage, blending into the surroundings when seen from above the waterline.
Scientific Name
Enteroctopus Elairionia Gigantus
