Swoosh
The village of Swoosh is the ancestral home of TZ's pod.
Demographics
It is populated Jaleerians who are mostly middle class professionals with a few pods of upwardly mobile service workers sprinkled in.
Government
Each pod residing within the village gets their turn in the rotation of the governing council of Swoosh. During their time in the council, they are responsible for maintaining infrastructure and services as well as resource management and enacting policies that benefit the entire village. All pods are required to tithe a percentage of their income to the village fund and they are also encouraged to make charitable donations to those who are experiencing difficulties.
Defences
Swoosh, like all Jaleerian villages, count the whistler trees that it is built in as their main defence. Jaleerians and whistler trees enjoy a symbiotic relationship so the trees protect their Jaleerian friends by gently swaying to produce a soft whistling sound when all is well. If there is danger, the trees will immediately become still and silent.
History
The village of Swoosh was one of the first treetop settlements built by the Jaleerians to escape the violence of the ground wars back when the groups of early humanoids were battling each other for world supremacy. The winged Jaleerians were more peaceful and intellectually oriented so they moved high up into the whistler trees, which grow to an average height of 1350 feet, for safety from the other humanoids who did not have the ability to fly.
Today's Swoosh has become much larger and has all the modern conveniences, but there is a district at the center of the village where several of the original buildings have been preserved and function as a museum where one can visit to learn about how early Jaleerians lived. Two of these buildings even bear the scars of the damage inflicted on the village when the ground-dwelling Snatchers achieved the technical ability to rise up into the trees and began to hunt the Jaleerians to the brink of extinction. Each generation of Jaleerians is told the tale and shown these monuments of destruction so they will remember not to take their peaceful existence for granted.
