Silisa Sahanandu Character in Kantostara | World Anvil

Silisa Sahanandu (See-lee-sah Sah-ha-nahn-doo)

Silisa Sahanandu (a.k.a. Lisa)

Silisa Sahanandu is an ancestor of Sara that is an historical figure who is both infamous and venerated. Like Sara, Lisa was the first born daughter of the Clan Mother of the Sahanavu Clan of running water, and as such, she was expected to become the next Clan Mother. However, Lisa caused a considerable scandal when she announced that she would not be accepting the title. Since the second born daughter did not have the temperment necessary for leadership, this led to the third born daughter becoming Clan Mother for the first time in recorded history, which called into question the capability of the Sahanavu Clan to fulfill their responsibilities to society and placed a great deal of pressure on Naranda (the third born) to redeem the reputation of her clan.   Lisa's historical reputation would have lanquished in infamy if it hadn't been for the innovative idea she came up with that literally changed the face of Navaravu. You see, Lisa was a friend and contemporary of Lu back during the Age of Song when the mystical god-like beings known as the Singers of Songs still walked among the people of Kantostara and before the Bane'ile home world was destroyed. This was a golden age when the Singers of Songs and the Bane'ile people collaborated to help other worlds with monumental projects that would improve the circumstances of their people. Lisa often travelled in the Chrysalis with her friend Lu, and so she got to see many of these projects, and that inspired her highly creative mind to come up with an idea for her own world.   Water has always been very important on Navaravu, and Lisa reasoned that transportation of both people and goods could be greatly improved if they could build a series of canals that would connect all the bodies of water across the entire world. She discussed the idea with the Singers of Songs and a group of Bane'ile engineers, and together, they came up with a plan. Then Lisa shared their plan with her sister, who by that time, had become the Sahanavu Clan Mother. At first, Naranda was sceptical that such a thing was even possible, but eventually she agreed to take the plan to the Matriarchs (the council of Clan Mothers who govern Navaravu).   At first there was some concern amongst the other clans that these new canals would increase the importance of the Sahanavu clan causing imbalance and disharmony. Navaravu has always been a world of empaths where everyone feels what everyone else is feeling so maintaining peace and harmony is considered essential. The Matriarchs held many meetings, and Lisa and Naranda worked together to reassure all the Clan Mothers that balance and harmony amongst the clans would be maintained. Finally, the project was approved.   Lisa never saw the finished project since it took three generations to complete, but to this day, she is remembered as the infamous first born daughter of the Sahanavu Clan who was also the architect of the greatest idea to improve commerce and connectivity across the whole of Navaravu.
