The White Throne

"I tell you, those Nabu book-heads guard their little peninsula with as much devotion as would suit a god of war. What are they hiding out there, I wonder, that could be of such value that only consecrated clergy and their paladin guards are even allowed into their little state? We've all seen that tower at the easternmost tip--hells, I even use it for navigating my ol' barque into Camshan to shave some time off by going on the inside of the great shoals. When I'm up close I swear the it shines with a light as bright as the midday sun, so pure and white is it. Has to be magic, the nor'easters in that area carry so much dust from the dunes of the deserts of Dawnmoor that anything left outside turns reddish in weeks. No way they could keep that place so pristine without some real proper wizardry, mark my words.
And the birds, don't get me started on the birds! Circling that tower as it was the juiciest worm, all kinds of 'em. They seem to follow some strange pattern, each one of'em landing at a little window at the top, sitting there for some time and then taking off again only for the next one to take its place an instant after. Day in, day out. Don't even shit on the place it seems. Gives me the jeebies that place, no matter how splendid and pristine and fekkin clean the place is."
The White Throne is the court of Nabu, the God of Knowledge. Jutting out of the dense forests at the easternmost tip of Sirimatai, this tower is off limits even to the select few that are allowed into the autonomous theocratic state in the first place. Rumored to be connected to the rest of Sirimatai through the endless underground corridors of the Holistic Library, the White Throne houses the God himself and his servants: pearly-white golems that never utter a word, and who tirelessly collect and catalogue Nabu's never ending teatrise on the historical events (big and small) of all of Kampos.   Birds and bats are Nabu's messengers. All over the world, they observe what is happening, and once a year every specimen finds its way to the tower, where they land at the god's window to tell their tales.

Architecture

Long, gentle curves and sleek lines line each side of the hundred-meter high tower, making some resemblance to the prow of a ship. Between tall arches stretching almost to the top are massive mirrored windows. The top of the tower itself looks somewhat like a crown, and at the base stands two gigantic golems carrying spears, never moving unless the Throne is somehow threatened.   By the waterfront, a bridge stretches out to a small island with a little pagoda, with stair leading up from the sea.

History

Sirimatai is the historical origin of the now fallen Kamposian empire, and most of the cliff-coasted peninsula is now covered by a dense forest with small cities built in harmony with the trees. The Throne itself dates back to legendary times, and the myths tell that it appeared at dawn the day after Nabu gave the power of the written language to the ancient peoples who originally inhabited the land.

The quote you used to open this article was wonderful! It built the atmosphere splendidly. Make you feel how spooky the tower would be if you saw it for yourself.
