Blespytt - Corrupted

The magical alteration of a living being by a prolonged exposition and / or consumption of darkness or light essence was named Blespytt by the Trekijàrns, however at this time the term was only referring to darkness contamination. Although the natural process is quite long until complete and irremediable corruption, some items such as the Hjörtta can accelerate or even cancel its duration.

Effects

This condition as numerous effects on the affected, ranging from an increased affinity to magic to physical alterations to psychological disorders. The corruption as two big stages, each with specific symptoms. The first stage mainly consist in an increased affinity to magic and some minor physical changes. Sentient beings can start to develop some minor psychological disorders. On the second and last stage the corruption has finished to alter the mind and body of its victim and is now incurable. The physical changes are now major, anchored in the sick's DNA, although not necessarily visually clearly distinguishable. At this point a new species is born from the original. Those who developed psychological disorders on the first stage are now either back to normal or completely unstable. In some rare cases the corruption kills.

Variation : Adjusted

A variation of this condition is provoked by a prolonged exposition to the other elementary essences. Rather than a corruption it is a kind of symbiosis between the element and the affected. The symptoms are similar but less significant and invasive, and rarely cause any harm to the affected. The physical alterations are linked to the element and help the being to live in its environment. As such it isn't considered as negative and those affected are called the adjusted.
