Tysos
Tysos is a tiny island nation made up mostly of Olarks, the strange magical race found throughout Kalin. The people of Tysos spend most of their time worry about art and literature, and not so much the world around them. While visitors are allowed and welcomed Tysos is so “out of the way” that they are still rare.
Tysos Olarkian’s are also diverse in religion. While some worship the Mantle many are in fact atheists, a rarity. The majority however aren’t necessarily normally religious, instead they are spiritual and believe that one’s actions echo into the universe and eventually feed back to either the Olark in specific or their family.
Due to the small population governance is handled by a simple democracy where every man and woman can vote at the forum in regards to important matters.
Demography and Population
The people of Tysos are mostly artists, philosophers, and other intellectually minded trades. Though the island and city still needs its tanners. Racially Olarks are the majority. 98% Olark, 2% other.
Territories
Tysos takes up only the island of Tysos, and was founded after the Fall of the Torva. The island is idyllic with crisp blue waters and warm weather due to a unique air stream that flows over the region.
Military
Tysos is protected by the Arkiki Polemistes (Ar-Ki-Ki Poll-E-miss-tees), or Home Warriors. These spear and shield warriors are renowned for their great use of the Phalanx and their hearty spirits.
Technological Level
Tysos is a simple island. Magic is common due to Olark proficiency in the arcane arts, but most technology is simple and rudimentary.
Religion
Olark don't have an official religion, many believe in The Mantle however. Others believe in a bloodline version of Karma. Uniquely there are a lot of Atheists in Tysos, brought on by the large amount of philosophers and thinkers on the island.
Foreign Relations
Tysos has warm relations with all of its neighbors, not being very prone to invasion or threatening to anyone.
Agriculture & Industry
Tysos allows for great fishing and farming, feeding the nation easily. Metals and other minerals are imported however.
Education
Due to its small size Tysos enjoys free education from notable thinkers and teachers to any who will listen. Many adults will educate their children while young and them send them to forums to learn.
