Mithril Pillar
Security from Bloodletters cannot be harnessed from the Commonwealth alone. This is why I have purchased the services of the Mithril Pillar. For you, my son, to command. -Ramas KulenovA company of mercenaries, the Mithril Pillar was the largest organization of contracted protection in Kal'Araan. Contracted on a squad-to-squad basis, the Mithril Pillar was eventually bought outright by Ramas Kulenov prior to the Battle of Westhill.
Structure
The Mithril Pillar was primarily organized as a mercenary company. One leader would oversee all company-wide contracts and decide who would captain a squad. After the Battle of Westhill, however, the Pillar's leadership has been unfilled. The few squads that remain are autonomous, though they still maintain respect and contact with other squads.
At its peak, the Pillar was house to nearly 100 squads of fighters. Today, there are less than 10. While it is not known for sure all of the squads that survived, there are a few of note that still remain (to be expanded as the party progresses):
- The Breakers
- The Nocked Reeds
- The Silken Sabres
History
The Pillar was historically a positive presence in Northern Emyr, protecting many villages and important landmarks from Bloodletters and other would-be bandits. While some squads within the company would sometimes take questionable contracts and were looked down on, the overarching doctrine of the Pillar dictated taking defensive contracts and most squads followed it.
After the Battle of Westhill, the Pillar was scattered, losing the vast majority of its squads.
Disbandment
The Pillar as a whole was never officially disbanded, but has been leaderless and unorganized since the Battle of Westhill.
