In the heyday of the dragon's rule over
Kaitstud, they built three temples where the people of the land could gather to bring issues to them for judgement.
Buildings
Each temple was built in a classical style with columns around a large central open area. Carvings of dragons decorated the edifice. At the back of the open area stood a large fire bowl. When the
Dragons held court there, they lit the fire so all around knew they were avaialble to be approached. The lighting of the fire also served to mark the land as under their control, and so keep away other dragons from settling across the seas.
Locations
The three temples were spread over the land, each near to a large urban settlement so that it was easy for the people to get there. One outside the
Citadel, one outside
Wolfport, and the other along the river from
Muellock.
Historical use
When the dragons were in state at one of the temples, it was open for any human to attend and air their grieviances. In order to be allowed addmitance, they needed to stand in the binding fire from one of the
Queen's brother-guards. This wouldn't hurt them, but bound them to the judgement passed down on them. Needing to stand in dragon flame also made sure that only important matters were brought before the queen.
Current use
Since the fall of the dragons, most of the temples were left derelict, though the
temple in the bear lands has been repurposed into where they hold their clan ceremonies. Cremations of important clan members, and the inauguration of new Bear Leaders all take place there. Though the building isn't in very good repair.
The other two remain overgrown and ignored.
