Ves thel Án, the Caretaker

"I can't call myself a cleric anymore, but if she called on me again, I'd do anything she asked. She was there when I needed her. But she's the keeper of magic—even if her divine gifts are gone, she never really abandons us."
Ves thel Án is crudely known as the goddess of magic, but it's far more accurate to call her The Keeper of the Weave.

Ves thel Án's Doctrine

The Exodus was not only caused by gods who wanted to exploit mortals for their own gain. Before they were divided, Caelia and Ves thel Án had a seething disagreement on the concept of "good." In short, Caelia believed in it, and Ves thel Án didn't. Ves thel Án carried this into her monarchy. She rules in a very loose sense. She believes that mortals deserve freedom, and she isn't particularly stringent about her rules. She is a favorite of adventurers, scholars of arcana, and the desperate for change; however, she also believes and teaches that it's up to every individual to make their own fate, and if ever she feels her gifts have turned from an aid to a luxury, she will take them back. After all, she has a heavy weight on her shoulders and only so much power to divert from it.

The Keeper of the Weave

Ashnwara created the Weave alongside the mortals, ostensibly as an equalizer. Gods can use it to grant their followers magic from far beyond the Material plane, and mortals can learn to bend it themselves with no assistance at all. It served its purpose until in the same "moment" the God-Queen died, it began to unravel. Ves thel Án simultaneously became the monarch of her pillar and took up a mantle nobody even knew Ashnwara had been carrying: keeping the Weave from unraveling. It wasn't Ves thel Án's choice, but nobody knows if this was a mistake Ashnwara hadn't considered, or something she'd planned. "Ves thel Án" itself isn't exactly a name, but a title which translates roughly to "Keeper" or "Guardian" of magic. Her followers sometimes call her simply "Ves thel," essentially referring to her as "the Keeper of All." If she had a name before the title she now keeps, it's been lost to time.

Tied by Duty

Sarathael and Ves thel Án's connection is not well understood. Their responsibilities are similar, being that they are the only two who are caretakers, each watching their own aspect of existence bestowed upon them by Ashnwara, ostensibly without explanation. They are called siblings by their own words, but it's unknown whether this was a relationship they were created with or if they forged it after the Exodus.
