Second-born of the sons of The Lady of Sanctuary the Lord of Sand rules over time and its effects - making him also the bringer of death and decay as part of the natural order of things.
He is not seen as malicious or malevolent, but rather inevitable. This does not make the effects of his coming any less feared by mortals of course.
Though not ruling over the life-after-life himself it is his purpose to guide the worthy through the darkness beyond time to the new world created by his mother for their continued existence.
