Sorcery

Magic is a secret science passed down from master to pupil and it is rare that a master takes on more than one pupil at once. It is the study of years and any magician will tend to be at least middle aged before they can claim even a moderate level of power and credibility.
Magic in Kaevil consists of attuning the mind to the obscure natural laws underlying the known world and training usually includes long periods of meditation, stressful ordeals and the imbibing of sacred elixirs to unlock the perceptions from everyday existence.   Sorcerers have a reputation for being cryptic and hard to understand as a result of them seeing the world so differently from those around them. The elixirs that give them their insights also slowly destroy their sense of sight. The more powerful the sorcerer, the more likely they are to be blind.
Masters of sorcery are often nicknamed “White Eyes” since their eyes completely cloud over. A sorcerer whose eyes are entirely black, seemingly openings onto a starry void, are things of legend and surely none still exist.   Magic tends to manifest as unsual insight, perceptions beyond the norm and the ability to change the perceptions, emotions and minds of others. Gross physical effects are possible for experienced sorcerers who explain that away as simply “changing the land’s perception of itself”.
