Iron Tesseract

This is a a complex puzzle box of heavy iron construction, with glyphs and sliding layers and similar details.
It is said to house an infinite sequence of magical lore to those who know its secrets. It is about the size of a fist and heavy as a brick.
It was created three centuries ago by the infamous sorcerer Calormas, who met a bad end (torn apart by invisible fiends in the market place of the Leafstone).
