Halgrim
A Count of House Genlith between 897 and 940, an arrogant and divisive figure with a keen dislike of his House Tyaldi neighbours and supported and encouraged raids against that country, one of which killed the Duke Grywald who had carelessly led a small band of men too close to danger.
When Grywald's son Ivar succeeded his father at the tender age of 15, Halgrim mocked the boy by sending him a gift on his taking power - a gift of toy warriors and horses, along with a note urging him to learn to play at war. Ivar replied that he would learn quickly and well, and would in turn teach many lessons.
Halgrim had cause to regret that mockery, as Ivar, Duke of Tyaldi's sharp diplomacy and sharper military actions hunted down and burned out the reavers on the border while Halgrim was unable to mount any firm response without admitting his involvement in supporting lawless raiders.
