Mulsi Sternhunter's Surrender (ˈMull-See ˈStern-Huhn-Ter)

Exhibit 327WC: Surrender of Mulsi Sternhunter

In 1190, King Ramun II died without a clear heir. There were two women of equal birth in line for the throne, Duchess Mulsi Sternhunter, and Countess Sizha Deepwalker. The Deepwalker Clan moved quickly, solidifying support from many key nobles before King Ramun even died. The Sternhunter faction was slower out of the gate, assuming Mulsi would automatically be named due to her higher rank in the nobility, but they were also able to rally a good base of support. Ultimately, though, Mulsi's forces were overwhelmed and she was forced to surrender.   Mulsi was allowed to stay at her country estate, effectively under house arrest, until she was found plotting rebellion two years later and was imprisoned for life.   The text of the letter follows:
Dearest Sizha,   May you rot in the Nine Hells. I've got your bullyboys standing over me now, making sure I come to heel like a good little doggie. You'd do well to remember during your reign that not everyone is a Brittlecairn Courser, that you can just whistle for.   But that's not why I'm writing this. Fine.   I surrender my claim to the throne, unconditionally. I further pledge that none of my sons or daughters shall try to assert any claim upon it. I remove the Sternhunter line from the succession entirely. Should ever me or mine be found plotting against you, let us be strung up in the capital square.   There, that ought to do it. Take note of how true nobility does things when their backs are to the wall - with grace. As for the throne, I wish you joy of it. I hear it's an uncomfortable seat.   Your Devoted Subject

The War of Succession: Analysis
Tactically, Mulsi was at a disadvantage from the start, as Sizha had snapped up the pledges of support from most of the counties surrounding Carcoswald. Mulsi's only asset there was the Caradover Wilds, which Sizha's troops would not cross. Sizha was forced to circle the large forest to get at her foe. Winter was another enemy, with Mulsi's troops far less prepared for the harsh Troyso weather.   Mulsi also spent more, on bribes, on troops, and on supplies. She and her spouse taxed those in their duchy to the breaking point. Some of her people began to rebel. With her husband's coffers empty and her troops being eaten away by local guerilla fighters, and the harsh winters, Mulsi finally surrendered.

Love the letter and the worldbuilding of including dog breeds. Such sass. Great work.
