The Treaty of Jahamen

Following the Context of "The Great Northern War", which was a campaign launched by the Ethernian queen Isora Mezezi against the kingdom of Etha, the Ethain king, Glerigh, met with Isora Mezezi to negotiate a treaty.   Isora's conquests in the previous years had led her to occupy down to the Egriundan plains in the south, Aroenda in the west, and the Ogliar mountains in the east. Although her initial advance was relatively quick, and exacerbated by the Ethain defeat at Szhazhen, she soon ran into hurdles as the Ethains recovered their strength. Advances into Egriunda were stymied, even as the Ethains were forced to deal with Southern and Eastern threats, the Nivagrans and Hyun, respectively, who attacked at Isora's behest. The evident stalemate, alongside the disappearance of Isora's daughter to Etha, led Isora to reach out for negotiations.   Preliminary Negotiations and Cessation of Hostilities.   In the beginning of the new year of 1080 Isora reached out to Gelerigh, king of Etha, to negotiate the terms of a peace. Many letters were sent between the monarchs as an armistice was agreed to. After near a month of royal correspondence, Glerigh agreed to pay an enormous "Ransom" to restore the taken territories (with the exception of Denk) to the kingdom of Etha. Glerigh and his retinue would then travel to Jahamen, in Denk, where the final negotiations would be made face-to-face.   The Second Phase of Negotiations.   The Ethain king was requested to bring with him as guests the baron and baroness of Jahamen, as well as have in his entourage many prominent members of the Ethain religious establishment.   The Ethain king and his entourage were greeted by the queen and a great feast. The first order of negotiation was the future of Denk. Isora, fortunately, agreed to relinquish Denk for a further ransom of great value. The Ethain king and his establishment acknowledged Isora as the Sovereign of all of Ethernia, equal in rank to the king of Etha. To legitimize her status, Isora was coronated by the Lokjin'a priests of Etha (The lead priests in each of the religious cities). In going with her newly acknowledged status, the kingdom of Etha made pledges to respect Ethernian suzerainty over the island of the Batic sea, as well as refusing to extend protection to Ethain subjects that invaded these territories and vowing not to invade Ethernian territory themselves. These guarantees were also granted to the kingdom of Larunda in the Ethanga inland sea. As a final assurance of Ethain recognition of Ethernian sovereignty and peer-status, Glerigh "adopted" Isora. Although Isora was not taken to literally be a legitimate child of the Ethain king, this did establish a system of peerage between the two states and would continue on for centuries.   As a caveat, however, Isora would only accept the ransom for Denk, and thus return it, if the baron and baroness of Denk agreed to a stipulation of hers. It had become apparent to her that her daughter and heir, the one who had left for Etha, had become close to an Ethain boy, who happened to be the son of the baron and baroness before her. She desired for their permission and blessing to wed their children together. This would make the Ethain the next in line for king in Ethernia. The baroness, Reba, agreed easily, although her husband, Tefeg, took some convincing by the parties present. He eventually caved, bringing the negotiations to a finish. One last request by the queen was that she be permitted to stay in Jahamen to announce to the children their betrothal when they arrived. This, too, she was granted.
