Jeweling
Jeweling is an uncommon Gifted power that can create and control precious stones. Jewelons are known to have a rather unique Downside that makes them easily controlled by their rulers.
Effect
Jeweling allows its user to create and control gems and jewels. The ability is limited to precious stones, preventing Jewelons from controlling non-precious stones like marble and quartz. Semi-precious stones are included, but several, like aquamarine and pearls, are unable to be controlled, pearls because of their origin.
Because of the jewels they can create, Jewelons are always wealthy. Their possessiveness might keep them from spending their gems constantly, but they will still use their power to make their lives comfortable. The importance of their abilities ensures they are often in their rulers' good graces, and as such, they are usually in positions of nobility. Houseless Jewelons are strongly encouraged to marry into powerful houses to keep them close to the government.
Side/Secondary Effects
They're mine, Mommy. All mine. No one else can have them. Just me. Not you, not Daddy, not Olga. My jewels. Mine.
Jewelons are affected by Downsides just like all Gifteds. They generally exhibit mood swings as symptoms, but occasionally develop narcissism and other mental illnesses. An interesting effect of their Downsides is that Jewelons tend to be very possessive and protective. Their possessive-ness prevents them from giving away their jewels, while their protectiveness over family allows their rulers to manipulate them with threats to their loved ones.
Manifestation
Jeweling is a power with an aura. When Jewelons utilize their power, their hands give off light that is tinted a color that means something important to them. Occasionally smells and heat have been recorded, but only rarely.
Discovery
Jeweling was discovered sometime in the 500s BEA. Jewelons quickly became well-known for their ability to provide precious jewels with barely any effort. Within a hundred years of their official discovery, Jewelons were in high positions in many countries and they soon became some of the richest people in the world.
Applied Restrictions
Because of Jeweling's nature, almost no countries prohibit its use. Even Gifted-intolerant countries such as Dalirn only watch them closely. However, many countries have laws that control Jewelons and force them to pay their rulers large amounts of jewels.Recent Well-Known Jewelons

The Nightmare Diamond
A Gifted horror story, the legend of the Nightmare Diamond claims that long ago a powerful Jewelon was engaged to be married. Tragically, her fiance ran away the night before the wedding and married another. In a fit of rage, the girl focused her powers and created a single black diamond. Then she dressed in her wedding dress and went to the man's house, where she killed him and his wife before vanishing into the night and leaving only the jewel. The unfaithful lover's brother had the diamond placed in a necklace, but from then on anyone who owned the jewel was unlucky in love and died gruesomely. It is not known whether this is a true story or not, but it is well-known throughout Eterlania, Narthica, and Bazilia, likely originating in the latter.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild

Author's Notes
I took 24 photos as options for this article and selected four of them for this article. Unfortunately, one was the wrong size and I couldn't use it. Hopefully, I'll be able to use it in another article! Side note: I might write a specific article about the Nightmare Diamond, so let me know if you want to see anything.
