Inspiration in JauVon | World Anvil
Currently under reconstruction, again.

Inspiration

(New bit at the bottom)
JauVon was born from giant robots, politics, the power of determination, and a love of dogfights.
This page covers things that sparked the ideas, its also meant to help spark the themes and feeling of the world in others through means they may already understand or have some access to.
Regardless of the setting's spark, the intent is for stories set in JauVon to be able to explore a wide range of feel, from space western, to existential horror, to cyberpunk-esk dystopian themes, to steampunk-esk wild gadgets and locomotive whimsy.
Also I've been asked to share the music I listen to to inspire creation.
I have two playlists,
Story and General inspiration.
Songs often move from inspiration to story when they get latched onto something.   To see the meaning for the songs on the story playlist timeline!

Video games

Star Fox 64

I can not stress how much I loved this game and how much it influenced me when it comes to JauVon. Its got everything I love, spaceship fighter pilots, dogs fights both in space and in atmosphere, giant robots, impossible enemies, crazy strange 'bio weapons', cocky bastards, and wonderful word play.
This game is were I discovered how much I love the thrill of a good dog fight in a game. Anytime we were in all range mode I was HYPED.
Last vid is a more recent AMV, just for funsies. It captures the feeling of playing a it, I think. If I find one with a more theme fitting song I'll replace it.

Sola To Robo

Solo to Robo's setting and mostly its take on robots inspired alot of the minor rover things. A lot of the feel of Rover Sports comes from the mini games.

Anime

Gundam Wing

Giant robots of convoluted space politics? Yes please. I watched this when I was around 16, the prefect age to really resonate with a buncha angsty boys in robots. Even as a little kid I loved the art of fantasy politics, and this show really scratched that itch. I don't know exactly the depths of its insperation on JauVon, because my memory is really very terrible. But I'm sure its more than just a little.

Macross

Now I haven't actually seen any of the Macross series, though i'm sure I'd enjoy it. The AMV's I've found I certainly enjoy. They make me think of what I want already in some way and get my hyped to keep going. I love how music seems to be a big part of the series, add in giant robots and epic space battles and well, it really makes me feel at home.

New Love

This video almost feels like it was ripped right from my head. Everything is perfect. The music, the colors, the theme, the glow. I can see this being Ciarn in 20 years. (Heck its Ciarn now if it weren't for the cyborgs, it'll get there.)
It hasn't inspired anything new, I just couldn't think of a better place for something that felt so close to home.
