The Wave Dancers Organization in Jånthis | World Anvil

The Wave Dancers

The Wave Dancers are a loose collective of performers. All of them have basic command of magic, and are usually either graduates or wash outs from The Caretakers’ Tower. Unwilling to turn their magics to more aggressive trades, or unable to do more with their magic for their fellow citizens; they have turned their abilities to performance in veneration of Umberlee, goddess of the sea. Turning their flowing dance into prayers to Umberlee hold back the savage storms of The Obsidian Ocean; working their part to keep Alondis safe.   The Wave Dancers style of performance hinges on shaping water into an every shifting stage, dancing on flowing peeks and crests as the water ripples beneath each step, leap, and plié. This unique art makes their dances famous up and down the coast, many performers seek to learn from them, only a few are selected. They will happily teach any who choose to join their ranks, but for those who wish to learn and move on, the Wave Dancers will not accept gold, only an exchange of dances; and will teach only if they themselves are taught a new routine they deem worthy.

Structure

The Wave Dancers have no particular organisational structure. Being more of a loose collective, run by democracy and common assent.

Public Agenda

Veneration of Umberlee through dance and prayer, ensuring good crop of fish, safe journeys for the fishermen, and to hold back storms from ravaging the coastal settlements.

Assets

The troupe maintains chapter houses in the settlements up and down the coast; usually close to the water, or if this is not possible, they have a large pool fed by channels and pipes cut into the area. They also own a couple of caravel’s, allowing them swifter and safer movement between chapter houses.
