Pyroresin

Pyroresin is the biproduct of harvesting sap and timber from trees that grow in certain climates and geological formation in Ivryia. In particular, it is found the further south one travels, being an export of Idemountila and Kasvil - the southern most states in Ivryia.

Properties

Material Characteristics

Pyroresin comes in two forms, liquid and solid. The liquid form is relatively viscous liquid that takes a few weeks to fill a buckets worth of resin. it has a beautiful amber color, that slightly shimmers with a copper highlight when seen in direct light. Its solid form is more common in commerce and is sold in pieces that range in size from a few grams to a few kilograms - though that is mostly bulk purchases for institutions rather than individuals. It has the same amber color, though it deepens as it solidifies, veins of ochre form around imperfections as it hardens. The coppery shimmer is not often present, usually being used to denote a purer form of pyroresin.

Origin & Source

Pyroresin comes from trees in the southern regions of Ivryia. Similar to regular pine trees, the trees that produce the resin are laced with burning cracks in their bark, a striking resemblence to trees that are burning from being set on fire. However, the trees are not burning, nor are they warmer than their regular counterparts, and the difference is primarily visual.

Life & Expiration

This product is only slightly magical, simply having the ability to burn for long periods of time with only a few grams of resin. It does not expire, but will eventually burn away with time and usage.

History & Usage

Everyday use

Pyroresin is used as a fuel for lighting, heating, and even cooking in some cases. Because it burns slower than regular resins and oils, the slightly magical resin has a prolonged burning rate that is more cost effective to purchase and burn over a long period of time. It is often the main source of lighting in most city centers if the streets are not illuminated with magical sources.   When it is not being used for smaller illumination of city streets, homes, and other establishments, it is used for statues and braziers because of its long burning property - meaning that it would require very little to be maintained.

Refinement

It is harvested from trees in the southern-most regions of Ivryia and solidified over time. There is no complex process for hardening the pyroresin, but it can be refined by removing the imperfections to maintain the coppery shimmer.
Type
Biomaterial
Odor
Pyroresin has a faint odor of burning wood, with hints of a medicinal sting similar to that of pine trees.
Taste
It tastes like regular tree resin, although with a burnt aftertaste.
Color
The color of pyroresin is similar, if not identical to that of regular tree resin. The main distinction between the two is the richer color the pryoresin and occasional veins of ochre swirled within.
Common State
Pyroresin is most commonly found in a viscous liquid state, but it is sold in mostly a cured solid state for easy transportation and consumption by those who purchase it.

The article, the theme, the idea. All pulled me in so hard, I could smell the sap. Sadly, I had to copy the text into an editor to read it. The chosen font is very hard on the / my eyes and I can barely read it. Which is indeed a shame. Such a well round end package of wholesome read is not found that often.   I dont do this .. at all, usually but but would strongly suggest changing the font.
