Knading Necropolis

Purpose / Function

Originally a graveyard in the ancient city of Knading, its purpose was to be the final resting place for the pious. And while this was tended to by the priests of the city, those entered there receiving respect from their living relatives, a darker force was creeping up onto the city. The Lich, Okeke, was rising to power. A greedy mage desiring eternal life and power would make their way into the city of Knading, at first taking a position of power in the Necropolis to build their strength. After growing their forces, Okeke would go on to enthrall the citizens of Knading, not caring whether they lived or died during the violent takeover. Those who could not flee or lost their lives in the attempt would serve Okeke for countless years in the Necropolis, creating traps throughout to protect the mage from heroic attempts to take away their power and kill their phylactery.

Alterations

Before the takeover of Okeke the Lich, the Knading Necropolis was first a simple graveyard dedicated to the pious residents of the then small town of Knading. Over the years, Knading would grow into a bustling city, and the Necropolis would grow in kind.

Architecture

The architecture of the Necropolis is a blend of celtic and gothic buildings, crypts, and headstones as the years passed on and architectural styles evolved. After the takeover of Okeke, the buildings would eventually deteriorate and crumble into dust, being overgrown with vines and plant growth.

Defenses

As with most liches, Okeke would protect their domain with the bodies of the dead that resided in the Necropolis and the surrounding city.

History

Knading was once a popular and thiving city, but after the takeover of Okeke the Lich, the buildings would deteriorate, leaving only the crypts and churches of the Necropolis to indicate its former existance.

Tourism

Only the most daring of adventurers would think of entering the Knading Necropolis due to its dangerous terrain and the various creatures that currently live in the ruins.
