Manufacturing process
The creation of this set of earrings required the designing of the pendant base with clay, which was then cast into a mold. This mold was then filled with molten brass and allowed to set into its final shape. The opals were taken and shaped into an oval, and are inlaid once the pendant has solidified. To finish the earrings, the master jeweler would connect the clasps, as well as polishing the work as a whole.
History
These earrings were crafted for the first recognized Prince of Freystalia as a gift for their soon to be wife as a token of their love. The myth associated with these beautiful earrings is that the Prince was so moved by the sparkling chromatic eyes of their lover, that they would pay any price to have them immortalized.
Significance
These earrings are considered a part of the extended crown jewels of the Principality of Freystalia. They are given as a gift to a member of the Royal Family of Freystalia. If this member is born into the family, it is passed down by their mother. If this member is married in, it is given as an engagment gift.
While the influence of the Verintyr is rather small, these earrings represent the longstanding influence and strength of the royal family in spite of their size compared to the other cultural groups within Freystalia.
