Force

The Forces are powerful god-like figures, responsible for the creation of Itorah in the universe of Itorah-Arcane. Spirit-like, they exist on a separate plane of existence, alongside everything they created. The many Forces worked together to create not just the planet and all that lives there, but also everything about the planet: the workings of the water cycle, the dynamics of the air, gravity, and everything else imaginable... and not so imaginable.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Immaterial and naturally shapeless, Forces have no real anatomy to themselves. Though they can--and many do--take on proper shapes, they have no need for any functionality in their bodies. They are not mortal beings, but energy and will bound together in a plane where such things are all they need.   Forces which chose to take on more bodily shapes can do so for a variety of reasons. Some may have one favored appearance, or a few, whereas others may change them constantly. Forces who are proud of a specific creation may display themselves in that form, Forces who like the nature of humans or dragons may take on a form like that, and so forth. It matters little to other Forces, even those who don't believe in taking on forms themselves, as they recognize each other by energy, not appearance.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Inherently magical and made of energy, Forces take in information in ways unimaginable to mortal beings. They can communicate in mere thoughts and concepts, recognize each other by the feel of their energy, predict how changes to the world's dynamics may affect things tens of thousands of years into the future. Immaterial and disconnected from the sapient species they've created--an intentional choice to prevent meddling--they are nonetheless capable of observing the mortal world with senses meant for such things: hearing words and sounds rather than thought, seeing colors and shapes instead of energy and feelings. But these are senses for the mortal world, not for their own plane of existence, and they can thus only use one or the other set, not mix them together.

Naming Traditions

Forces are inherently nameless. They recognize each other by the feel of their energy, and communicate in thoughts and concepts rather than words. Referring to another Force is as simple as thinking of their feel, and the other will understand perfectly. Every Force knows every other Force, after all.

History

The Forces all came into existence together, all at once... or so they think. They are pretty sure, at least. And all of them with the same goal, idea, inspiration: to create a mortal world together. To build a planet, its core and continents and shifting plates, with deep oceans and shifting winds, slowly spinning around a sun--and the solar system, had to make that too!--with its own moon, pulling on the tides. To fill the lands with Force-created life, with grass and plants and trees. With fungi, with bacteria and viruses and disease. And, of course, with animals. Ultimately, the final point of their creation was to the their crowning touch: an intelligent species to inhabit the planet they had created.   Whether their history as they remember it is true matters little to the Forces. They worked diligently on creating the world they wanted, together as equals, and are proud of what they created. Some may have contributed more, and others less. Some Forces may have placed a single species on the planet and called themselves satisfied with it, while others shaped entire continents from scratch, carefully placing mountains and lakes and rivers. It doesn't matter. There is no right or wrong among the Forces.   With their work finished, they simply watch. They have agreed not to meddle with their intelligent species, despite having made two instead of one as planned. They watch, and may cheer on groups, may feel disappointed about others, but that is life. Sometimes, one simply needs to accept that things have played out in a way you might not have liked.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Due to their role as creators, the Forces have... a bit of an odd relationship with humans and dragons. Of course, they created everything on the planet (and the planet itself), but nothing else can feel things about the Forces and their role in it.   Within the countless cultures held by humans and dragons, equally countless visions on the Forces exist. Most only acknowledge the existence of one Force, or a few. Truly, no one mortal knows about all Forces, though they could get close if they gathered all knowledge from everyone on Itorah. Still, there are Forces content to not be known at all, and others who love the attention. Some humans may deify one Force and yet spit on another, others believe in a whole pantheon of gods-who-are-Forces, and others just believe in them as powerful beings. The Forces, as ever, are content to see how things play out. Whether they are known or not ultimately matters little to them. It is the mortal way that things change, become known and then lost to the tooth of time, and the Forces? The Forces are forever.
